Cory Michael Announces Reschedule After Water Main Cuts EP Party Short

Fort Worth, TX — What was shaping up to be a milestone moment for local artist Cory Michael took an unexpected turn Saturday night, when a water main break forced an early end to his EP release party at Magnolia Motor Lounge.

The night kicked off with strong performances from Thurber Mingus and Desert Folk, setting the stage for Cory and his band to debut new music. But just as they were about to go on, the venue was hit with the unexpected — a water main break that shut the show down.

“It was absolutely out of our control, out of Mac’s control,” Cory shared in a Monday video message. “We ended up stretching it out a little bit… played four songs and then one acoustic.”

Even with the shortened set, the energy from the crowd never dipped. Around 99 fans showed up, and Cory made it clear how much their support meant.

“The turnout was incredible — more than we could’ve asked for,” he said. “Thank you all for coming out and being so understanding.”

Here’s What’s Next

While the full set couldn’t happen, Cory and his team are already putting plans in motion:

  • rescheduled show is on the way. Details will be shared as soon as they’re confirmed.
  • limited run of 100 commemorative posters from the event will be printed and signed by Cory’s band, Desert Folk, Thurber Mingus, and Paul Douglas (“I guess he’ll sign it twice,” Cory joked).
  • Fans who bought tickets are encouraged to reach out via DM or directly to claim their signed poster.

EP Still Coming Soon

While the EP itself hasn’t been released yet, Cory confirmed it’s still on the way — and fans will be able to grab physical copies soon. In the meantime, he’s choosing to see the silver lining.

“Sorry it worked out this way, but you know, God’s always got a plan,” Cory said. “We’ll see you next time.”
